To meet unprecedented demand, Efret expands mega trailer fleet
To support growth in our European transport operations, we’ve invested in new, high specification mega trailers to expand our fleet and significantly increase capacity.
Demand for quality transport services continues to increase across all sectors as we support manufacturers with their logistics requirements across Europe.
The trailers will join our existing fleet of mega trailers by June 2024 and will be immediately deployed for key customers in the retail, automotive and packaging sectors.
Importantly, the design and construction is XL code compliant, meaning that the trailers are fully compatible with intermodal road and rail services. For example, they can be utilised on networks such as the Viia rail connection from Calais to Perpignan that offers a sustainable alternative to road for long distance freight movements between the UK and Spain.
The trailers have been built to order, with our customer requirements in mind, by leading German manufacturer Krone, and include the following features:
- Hydraulic lifting roof enabling 600 mm of additional height
- 33 euro-pallet footprint capacity with a maximum payload weight of 24 tonnes
- Fully equipped with 64 aluminium side boards for maximum load stability
- Sliding roof for over-height cargo
- Double skin provides, security, rigidity and flexibility
Our CEO, Alain Jestin, comments:
“We’re seeing a period of economic recovery in Europe which is at odds with a shrinking transport market capacity. We believe that to support our strategic growth and that of our customers, the timing is right to expand our mega trailer fleet.
The flexibility that these trailers offer is ideal for high volume transport and the materials and quality of the Krone trailers make them the obvious choice.”
Why mega trailers provide the most effective solution for Efret customers:
- Increased Cargo Space: Mega trailers are larger in terms of both height and length compared to standard trailers. They are designed to maximise cargo volume, allowing for the transport of larger and bulkier goods.
- Efficiency: Due to their increased cargo capacity, mega trailers can lead to more efficient transportation. Fewer trips may be required to transport the same amount of cargo, which reduces fuel consumption and overall transportation costs.
- Specialised Cargo: Mega trailers are often used for transporting over-height or irregularly shaped cargo that may not fit within the confines of a standard trailer. Their larger dimensions and a lifting and/or sliding roof make them suitable for carrying unique or challenging loads.
- Versatility: Mega trailers can be used across various industries, including retail, manufacturing, and automotive. They are suitable for transporting a wide range of goods, making them versatile for different business needs.
