What is a Security and Safety Declaration (SSD)?
A Safety and Security Declaration (SSD) is a document that provides information on the goods being imported, ensuring that they comply with UK safety, security, and customs regulations. It forms part of a wider strategy to ensure that goods entering the UK are not only compliant with relevant laws but also pose no threat to national security, public health, or safety.
The SSD will contain critical information about the shipment, including the nature of the goods, the consignor (sender), consignee (receiver), and the transport route. It’s designed to ensure that any potential risks related to the goods entering the country are identified and managed ahead of time.
UK Border authorities typically require an SSD to be submitted at least two hours before goods cross the border. To ensure your SSD is submitted in correctly and on time contact our experienced customs clearance team for support on this process.
